NewsAMERICA’S “BIG FOUR” AUTO SHOWS: S1G WAS EVERYWHERE

August 18, 2014

As a premier provider of specialized vehicle transportation, mobile exhibit creation and logistics, Select 1 Group is a major player in the largest auto shows in North America. In the U.S., the four biggest happen in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and New York. S1G drivers hauled a dazzling variety of new models, concept vehicles and mobile displays to these incredibly popular events.

With the big shows finished for the summer, here’s a summary.

L. A. Auto Show
Taking place in late November and early December, Angelinos got to take the first peeks at new models and concept cars. The L. A. show was again a place where consumers could check out new “green” cars and convertibles. There was also a heavy dose of Hollywood glitz.
Next show public dates: November 21-30, 2014

North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Detroit
In the home of the U.S. auto industry, fans are never disappointed. This year, fifty vehicles made their debut appearances, many from international manufacturers.
Despite severe winter weather attendance in January hit a milestone. The frigid weather included wind chills of -40 F on the day S1G crews offloaded several Mercedes=Benz vehicles.
Next show public dates: January 17-25, 2015

Chicago Auto Show
This one had manufacturers, fans – yes, and S1G drivers – casting suspicious eyes on the sky for days. A chain of major winter storms pelted the Windy City up to and throughout the show, which ran in mid-February. The slog through the snow and wind was worth it, though, because this show was enormous. The huge layout allowed show-goers to see every major model. Also to check out vehicles that had premiered at the Los Angeles and Detroit shows just weeks before.
Next show public dates:  February 14-22, 2015

New York International Auto Show
The show has been rolling since 1900. The 114th edition of what organizers call “the world’s first and largest attended auto show” included not only the latest manufacturer models but also eye-popping special exhibits. Fans ogled at European concept cars, a remotely driven Volvo and historical exhibits from the New York Police Museum. Crowds were strong at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan in April.
Next show public dates: April 10-19, 2015 (tentative)

Select 1 Group will continue to expand its role as a major transporter of vehicles and mobile exhibits to these shows and many other special events nationwide.
