NewsSelect 1 Delivers at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show

Despite severe winter weather attendance at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January hit an attendance milestone. Many of the custom cars and manufacturers’ showy new vehicles were transported to the Motor City by Select 1 Group.

Select 1 Group professionals at the show said that the mass movement of over 50 vehicles from points throughout the United States went off without a hitch. Perhaps not comfortably, though. “The first day we started moving the Mercedes-Benz vehicles into Cobo Center the wind chill hit minus-40,” said Pat Evo Select 1 Group Vice President/General Manager. Still, everything moved forward smoothly and on time.

Select 1 Group drivers transported vehicles from ten different manufacturers to the sprawling Cobo Center-Joe Louis Arena complex, which sits on the windy bank of the frozen Detroit River in the heart of the city’s downtown area. The site is directly across from Windsor, Ontario.

Weather not only failed to deter our drivers but auto enthusiasts swarmed to the show in numbers not seen in recent years. The Show, which celebrated its 25th anniversary as an international event, closed January 26 with a one-day attendance total of 102,153. That crowd swelled this year’s attendance to 803,451 – the first time the Show broke the 800,000 attendance mark since 2003.

Select 1 Group drivers are specially trained in foul-weather operations, including Skid Pad Training which provides experience in controlling a tractor-trailer in wet and potentially dangerous conditions.
